From Stay At Home Mom To Home Based Working Mother

If a mother wants to go out to work and is comfortable with the options for childcare available to her, it is her absolute right to choose that path, but no mother should be forced to go out to work and leave the care of her children in somebody else's hands.

It is a sad truth that too many women reluctantly hand their precious babies over to strangers and get back into the workforce because their family cannot survive without her income. Some moms manage to stay at home while their children are pre-schoolers; once the kids start school, mom has to get back to work as quickly as she can so that she can make up for the lost years of income.

Many stay at home moms decide to start their own home based business so that they can earn some extra income working at home during their children's early years. Sometimes this extra income is essential and sometimes it is a welcome bonus to the family budget. Whichever case applies, running a business from home can boost a stay at home mother's feelings of self-worth and give her an interest outside of caring for the kids.

Running a business from home can be tricky to manage and the degree of difficulty depends a lot on the age of the children involved, but the rewards make it worth persevering. With a little help and co-operation from the family, a stay at home mom can become a confident home based working mom.
