Happy New Year 2008
January 1st 2008. Happy New Year!
Just a few months short of my fourth anniversary of working at home. My, my how time does fly. January 1st was always a horrible day in my calendar when I was working outside home ("working for the man" as my American friends call it). I loved the long Christmas and New Year break from work but on January 1st I felt like a condemned person enjoying one last day of freedom. I always became so depressed, I couldn't even enjoy this final day of freedom, the knowledge of what the next day held cast a huge shadow over my life. Today is different: I am happy and very much looking forward to getting back to my normal work. The Internet has been very quiet all through the holiday but it is starting to come out of its sleeping beauty slumber. Working at home will start to get exciting again as all things online get busier and the pressure starts to build.
I don't normally make New Year's resolutions because any day is a good day to make changes to one's life, you don't need a date to help you, but I thought of a resolution today. If I was making an official resolution today it would be to make things happen and to spread the word to other people so they can make things happen for themselves.
Working at home running my own business has made me realise how much each person can achieve on his or her own. Being in the right place at the right time or just having a stroke of good old fashioned luck can have a big affect on your life but you can multiply that by taking positive action of your own. Replace "I can't do that" with "I will learn to do that" and you are on your way to a "Make It Happen" attitude. We all encounter obstacles at some time in life but dealing with obstacles makes us stronger and better equipped to reach our goals. If you treat obstacles as steps you can enjoy the view when you look down and realise how high you have climbed.
Some people think being your own boss is difficult. Well, it can be but it is certainly not impossible. Many people fail when they try to run a home business because they don't have faith in themselves, but we can always do more than we think we are capable of. The big mistake is to let fear prevent us from setting ourselves ambitious goals.
Anyone who wants to make money online, can do it (from anywhere in the world) if they are prepared to work - it can even be done with little or no cash investment. If you choose an Internet based home business, all you need is an Internet connected computer, some time and a willingness to learn new skills.
If you have an ambition to make money at home with your own business offline, it will most likely cost more to set up and take you longer to get into profit, but it is still possible to succeed as long as you are prepared to work and do not lose faith in yourself.
If you want to achieve a goal, learn to believe in yourself and decide to Make It Happen.
