Your Own Home Business - Be Grateful For The Internet

Do you have your own home business? If you are one of the many thousands of people who have their own Internet based home business, there are reasons why you should start your day in an attitude of gratitude.

If you are below a certain age, you won't remember a time before the Internet existed, a time when nobody had a home computer, a time when there were no ATM's, a time when there was no cable TV, a time before cell phones were invented. In fact, at the time I have in mind (and I do remember it) hardly anybody had a home phone; they were reserved for businesses and rich people: ordinary Joes like me had to go out and make calls from public phones. Fortunately, vandalism hadn't been invented, so the public phones worked ok, it was just a matter of not having the convenience of a phone in your own home.

How easy do you think it would have been for you to start your own home business in that time? Compared with starting an Internet home business, it would have been very hard, and costly in terms of cash and time investment. Think about the advantages the Internet gave you when you decided to start your own home business and let that attitude of gratitude into your heart.

These are five of my favourite reasons for being grateful that I live in an age where technology has given me so many advantages.

1. Freedom

Freedom just has to be the absolute top reason for practically all people who have their own successful home business. You have complete freedom to come and go as you please. You can work the hours which suit you. If you need time off, you don't have to justify your reasons to a boss who enjoys these moments of power. If you want to change your schedule, you can just do it. Take a minute now and again to remember how lucky you are to have no boss breathing down your neck.

2. Flexibility

Flexibility is a close second in my top five reasons to bless the Internet. Most people who work at home, chose a home business because they needed flexible hours to fit in with their family schedule. Most of these home business owners are women who chose to become stay at home mothers because they know they are the best people to look after their kids.

3. Doing What You Enjoy

Starting your own home business means you made a choice of what work would suit you best. You then get to do what you enjoy every day. Running a home business does involve some hard work but, when you are working at something you enjoy, it doesn't seem like work and the time flies by. Even when you have to do the odd boring chore, it won't get you down when you are your own boss.

4. Variety
Variety is the spice of life, so the saying goes, and I for one believe it's true. Most jobs have inbuilt boredom where you have to do the same boring tasks day in and day out. Being your own boss frees you of this boss-imposed routine and you get to add flavour to your working day by scheduling your tasks in a way which provides variety.

5. Being your own boss

What does being your own boss mean? For a start being your own boss means you get to do what you like when you like, you keep all the profits you earn instead of lining someone else's pockets, and you can take time off when you please. There is, however, an intangible benefit which comes with the territory: just being your own boss will alter the way you feel about yourself. Being your own boss will give you extra confidence in your abilities and your self-assurance will increase to the extent that other people will notice it and react towards you accordingly.

When you make money online, be grateful for the fact that you live in this technological age, and be grateful for the Internet because, without it, starting your own successful home business would not have been so easy.

Starting From Nowhere Part 1- Is a Home Business Right For You?

Is a Home Business Right For You? See If You Have The Five Essentials

Is a home business right for you? To put it another way, are you right for a home business? This can be a tough question to answer because most of us have never had any sort of business before, so we can hardly be expected to know whether we could run one successfully or what would be the best home business to work at.

There is no single, foolproof test to tell you whether a home business would be right for you because the variety of home-based business opportunities is so vast. There are, however, five character traits that every business owner needs in order for the business to succeed. The vital traits are patience, persistence, self-belief, the ability to remain focused, and determination. Let's have a brief look at each of these traits one by one.

Patience is required because starting a home business will require you to keep working diligently even though months might go by before you manage to turn a profit. It is highly unlikely that your business will be an overnight success. It is far more likely that you will have to keep working with nothing to show for your efforts while you are building your business.

Persistence is vital because you will have to motivate yourself when things don't go to plan. You can't give up when something doesn't work out, you have to keep trying different ways to make it work. How many times can you bear hear the answer "no"? Suppose you give up after getting a "no" answer ten times and number eleven would have been a "yes". You can never give up: you must be able to keep persisting until you get "yes".

Self-belief is essential because you will be surrounded by people (often well meaning folk) who will tell you starting a home-based businesses is a big risk and that 95% of home businesses fail. You have to believe that you are one of the 5% who will succeed in running a business from home even if there is no sign of success during the early days.

The ability to remain focused will ensure that you work steadily towards your goals and don't procrastinate when you have difficult tasks to complete or get sidetracked by external distractions.

You must be utterly determined to succeed. If you start your home business with a wishy-washy, have-a-try-and-see-how-it-goes attitude, take it from me, you won't be successful. You need the attitude of an athlete who is going to win a big race.

Do you have what it takes to run your own home business? If you can see all these five traits in your own character the prognosis is good but there are other considerations to be taken into account. We'll look at those in Part 2 of this series of articles.
