A Good Reason To Choose A Reputable Affiliate Program
If you happen to pick an affiliate company which is less than squeaky clean, life could become far from problem-free; you could be taking on a huge headache. I'm not talking about scam companies (although there are some around) who will fail to pay you or who are scamming their purchasers by providing a product which transpires to be worthless. I'm talking about the sort of company that will fill your affiliate marketing life with petty annoyances and waste your valuable time. When you start affiliate marketing, you will undoubtedly do your own due diligence on the affiliate programs available. There are many reputable affiliate programs online. For instance, I am an affiliate for the Plugin Profit Site, Top Online Profits, SFI, ROI Rocket, Share-a-Sale and several others. These companies all pay me bang on time every month. In fact, these companies are so reliable, I became far too relaxed about my monthly checks and PayPal deposits. One day I suddenly realised that an affiliate company I had been working for had never paid me (not one of the companies mentioned above, I hasten to add) even though I had been making sales for them for a few months, and they owed me getting on for $2000. Needless to say, I was very cross with myself for not having a fail safe accounting system. After that, I made sure I had a system of tracking commissions owed to me. I was not at all convinced that I would get the money I was owed from this rogue company but, at least the company hadn't disappeared, it was still trading. I emailed the owner to ask when I was going to get paid, and I was very lucky to receive the full amount owed in commission. The next month, everyone paid me apart from that particular affiliate company. This time it took two or three emails before the payment was forthcoming. The following month, when I emailed my request for payment, I was told a check had already been dispatched. The check didn't turn up, so I had to wait while it was cancelled and a fresh check was cut and posted out. It turned up after a couple more weeks. Now it might have been true that a check got lost in the post, but that situation is one of the oldest stalling tactics in the book, so feeling suspicious is only natural. By that time, it was pretty clear that I would have to chase that affiliate company for commission payments every single month. I could also see from my records that it was taking longer each month to actually get the money I was owed. I don't know what the problem was: maybe the affiliate company owner just had a lackadaisical approach, maybe he deliberately held on to the commissions to earn himself some extra interest, maybe he had cash flow problems. I just didn't know what was behind the delays, but I did know that I didn't need the extra work and hassle of having to chase up money I had earned legitimately and which should have been paid without delay. Although that affiliate company offered good products, I was not prepared to go on working with them. All the other reputable affiliate companies I work with can manage to pay commissions on time without any prompting, so it can't be all that difficult. The moral of my tale is that, if you want to make money online without experiencing regular hassle and time-wasting, it is vital to choose a reputable affiliate program to work with. The good news is that there are plenty of reputable affiliate companies to choose from.
