One thing all these different types of people have in common is that they start searching on the Internet for a job they can do at home and end up running a small home-based business. The reason that few people start by looking for a home-based business is that they are just not aware of the possibilities awaiting them and the opportunities that are possible only because of the existence of the Internet. When you think about it, it's obvious that, if you have no previous experience of running a business, a home-based business is not the first thing you will go looking for when you need to make some extra money. Ordinary people (and I don't use the term in a derogatory way, I include myself here) have been, to an extent, brainwashed into the mind-set that we have to be employed if we want to make money. Therefore, if we want to make money from home, we need to find a job we can work at from home. Unfortunately, there aren't enough home based "jobs" to go round and there never have been. This is why most home based jobs can get away with offering such a low rate of pay. Home based jobs tend to be work that can be done by unskilled workers, so the rate of pay wouldn't be great anyway; the existence of so many people competing for work at home jobs means the employers can continue to offer low rates of pay for the work. When you are doing an online search for ways to make money at home, you need to open your mind to other ways to earn money apart from having a work at home job. Starting your own business might be a totally alien concept but there are many completely ordinary people (hey, I'm included again!) running home-based businesses very happily. Most of the work at home job opportunities you will find advertised online are for freelancers or involve commission only work. There's nothing at all wrong with these opportunities, except that they won't help you unless you are qualified in a relevant skill (eg writing, web design or proof reading) that will enable you to compete successfully for freelance work projects. Freelance work is not really an option for us "ordinary" folk who don't possess suitable skills. Even if you can't find a home based job, it's still possible for you to make money working at home. There are numerous different ways to achieve the extra income you want, whether you want to work part time or full time. Here are a few suggestions for ways to make money at home on the Internet, starting with the easiest and graduating to the more advanced income sources. Online Paid Surveys Getting paid to take part in online surveys and focus groups is the easiest legitimate way to earn money at home. You can take part even if you have no previous experience of participating in surveys and no special skills or knowledge are needed. The point of these surveys is to obtain the opinions of ordinary people and market research companies are prepared to pay people just like you and me to get those opinions. Getting started couldn't be easier: you sign up with a paid survey company, they will let you know by email when a survey is available, you complete the survey, they pay you. Online paid surveys, due their simplicity, are a highly popular way to earn money at home. Taking online surveys is work you can do at any hour of the day or night that suits you. Most surveys only take 5-15 minutes to do, so they are easy to fit into even a busy schedule. Some surveys can take longer to complete but the company will usually tell you how long they estimate the survey to be, so you won't get caught out by needing twice as long as you were expecting to do a survey. Get Paid The best known "get paid" money earning opportunity is the get paid to read email. (I don't ever recommend these as, although the work is easy, the rate of pay is truly awful.) There are also companies who will pay you for signing up to free offers or playing games online. A neat arrangement can be found with websites such as Inbox Dollars that you can join to do a variety of "get paid" tasks including reading email, playing games, taking up free offers. This means you only have to join one website to perform the work and each task can be done in any spare few minutes you have throughout the day. Online Data Entry Data entry programs are next to online paid surveys in ease of performance but are way ahead in terms of income potential. Again, you don't need special skills or previous experience to succeed at earning money doing online data entry. Full training is provided, so anyone who can type and follow simple instructions can earn good money doing online data entry. online data entry work is completely flexible and can be slotted into the odd spare half hour here and there during your day. Typing Work At Home The old style typing jobs you can work at from home are, for practical considerations, extinct as most of the work previously farmed out to home typists is performed by computers in a fraction of the time and for a fraction of the cost. Any home typing jobs you see nowadays normally relate to online data entry typing. Instead of typing as fast as you can for hours, a competent typist can now earn a whole day's money with an hour or so of work doing online data entry. Internet Affiliate Marketing Internet affiliate marketing consists of promoting other people's products online and getting paid commission on sales. There are many benefits to taking up affiliate marketing as a career - not least is the fact that it is possible to earn huge amounts of cash with little or no financial risk as an affiliate marketer. Multi Level Marketing Multi level marketing (otherwise known as MLM) is, unfortunately, frequently confused with illegal programs involving pyramid schemes. MLM is, however, a completely legitimate way of earning money from home (think Tupperware and Avon, they work the same). As part of an MLM company, you earn commissions through your sales of the company's products. You also promote the opportunity to other people and get paid a percentage of any sales made by your recruits. There are many different MLM companies online offering every sort of product you could imagine from cleaning products to phone services, so you are spoilt for choice when it comes to picking a product to promote. One of the most respected (and longest running) programs is SFI. Many people who work at home on the Internet work at several different programs to provide multiple sources of income. Sometimes they combine their online work with offline work such as Mystery Shopping or Photography. The possibilities of making money online are limited only by your imagination, so don't limit yourself to looking for a job you can do from home, be open to ideas for starting your own home-based business. |
