A lot of people think about starting their own business, but don't know where to begin and plenty of people give up before they really get started. You don't have to worry about failure when you do medical transcription at home because you can start small and build up your business at your own pace, in your spare time and still work at your everyday job. The only other start-up expense will be for software such as a medical spellchecker (your ordinary spellchecker just won't do for medical transcription) and an abbreviation system such as Smartype.

Anyone who can type can learn to do medical transcription with the right training. You need to be the sort of person who is happy working on your own without supervision, but that goes for most types of home based business. Medical transcription can be a fascinating home business and is ideal for stay at home parents who want a business they can fit in around their children's schedules.
