Greetings From London
Hello and welcome to Networkers' Calendar. I held this issue back for a few days because I was waiting for details of a new program that looked interesting from the information I had about it. I received the further information by email today and it does, indeed, seem interesting and has the advantage that it will help newbies and people who are financially challenged.
The program is now in pre-launch and you can sign up FREE. Click Here for details. There are special bonuses for the first 500 people to sign up. The bonuses are not just bits of rubbish thrown in to make the offer look generous. One of them is a book I purchased a while back so I can vouch for the fact that, at least one of the freebies is valuable.
On a personal note, the program is owned by a Belgian guy named Nico De Baere. I have dealt with Nico previously (including buying the ebook from him) and my impression of him is that he is hard working and honest. I know how feeble this sounds to people who are accustomed to getting emails saying "my great friend, blah de Blah, the Internet Marketing Guru, has just let me in on a secret that I want to share with you etc…" - well, you know the kind of thing. That illustrates the difference between a sales letter (this definitely isn't) and a newsletter (this is!). The truth is I have never met Nico and my opinion is based on my own personal dealings with him online. One of my Grandmother's favourite sayings was "speak the truth and shame the devil". Sticking to that principle might not bring me a ton of sales but I don't have to worry about Old Nick warming up a place for me if he reads this!
September, the kids are back at school, autumn has officially arrived and the number of people looking for work at home for the first time is increasing every day. It's still very warm here in London (which makes it really horrible and sticky when it rains) but we can't ignore the fallen leaves and darker evenings: autumn is here. On a traffic exchange the other day, I saw my first Christmas decorated website. This added to the general irritation of the supermarkets shoving basic essential items into obscure corners to make way for Christmas baubles. Oh please, can't we have our proper seasons back instead of perpetually being forced to be one season ahead.
I have received a few emails from people who don't understand why I warn them that they should never pay to get a job but still promote programs that require a fee. This is something I always emphasise but people often seem to take in half the advice and overlook the rest.
The point is that there is a difference between a "job" and a work at home opportunity or home business. If someone requires a registration or admin fee to employ you, don't pay it. If someone requires payment for an ebook or an online training course for a work at home program, that is completely different: they are selling you something to help you, not employing you.
A job involves an employer, an employee, a contract of employment, a salary, paid holidays and sick leave. A boss tells you what to do, you do it and the boss pays you. If you have a home business, you are the boss, you decide what to do and you keep all the profits. A work at home opportunity is similar. If you buy into a franchise, purchase an ebook or subscribe to a training course, these are all legitimate expenses (and tax deductible).
If somebody has developed a system of working that makes money and is prepared to teach it to you, it is perfectly reasonable that they should expect to get paid for this service. Equally, if somebody has written an ebook with advice on working at home or running a home business, they are entitled to expect people to pay for the book - if you go to a bookshop, you don't start yelling "scam" when the cashier asks you to pay before you take the book home to read!
It is a good thing that people are suspicious, a bit of cynicism is healthy. Strangely, however, it often seems that the people who show the greatest suspicion of legitimate work from home opportunities are the first ones to fall for the "get rich quick" or "we do all the work so you don't have to" type of offers. Want to know a secret? - If you want to make money, you have to work for it. That's as true on the Internet as well as offline. Please don't spread this around, it's just between us, if it gets out that I've revealed this, the get rich quick mob are likely to come looking for me.
Here's a free tip: if you want someone to help you be polite to them. Last week I had an abusive email from a gentleman who wanted me to help him. If he had said "I don't understand" instead of "I don't ****ing understand", I would have felt there was some point to replying to him. At one point he referred to "you ****ers" making money" in a way that made it sound like jealousy. A bit over two years ago, I was looking for ways to earn money online. I'm making money now because I've worked and reinvested small profits to bring bigger profits. I've found people online generally honest, helpful and generous but maybe some of that's to do with the fact that I left out the "****" when asking for help.
It occurred to me that I have not mentioned Search Estate for quite a while. Search Estate is a brilliant viral free advertising resource, as close to set and forget as you could wish - that's why I kind of forgot about it. You can see my free website here. I have customised it a bit but not very much. There is no limit to the extent to which you can customise these sites. It is a very useful way to get a free website.
As usual, my top income program was SFI. The second was a surprise new entrySurvey Income System. The online data entry programmes are still doing well. One thing that does surprise me is that people don't seem as interested in making money on eBay as I would have expected. I have several offers relating to eBay on my website and most of them are free or required something like $3.95 for postage and packing for a CDR etc. I expected these offers to be snapped up. I shall continue to run them for now because my aim has always been to provide as varied a range of work at home ideas as possible, but if further monitoring shows insufficient interest, these offers will have to be replaced.
Big Daddy is building up momentum and the Big Daddy blog will probably be running by the time you read this. If you have a website and want some traffic, check out Big Daddy.
In previous issues I have mentioned Submit YOUR Article and thought I'd give it another mention today in case you missed it before. I have been using this service myself for several months and have been 100% satisfied with it .
Enough from me. I hope you will enjoy the rest of this month's Networkers Calendar, there is just one article this month, it's one I wrote so recently, it's not even on my website yet. I hope it will be useful, the techniques discussed really do work. Keep safe and be happy. I'll be back in a month or so (promise not to be so long with the next issue) with some more Internet good stuff.

You know you are addicted to technology when…
You can't sit through an entire movie without having at least one device on your body beep or buzz.
You think of the gadgets in your office as "friends", but you forget to send your father a birthday card.
In computer shops, you eavesdrop on a salesman talking with customers, butt in to correct him and spend 20 minutes answering the customers' questions, while the salesman stands by silently, nodding his head.
You say "digital compression" in a conversation without thinking how strange your mouth feels saying it.
You constantly find yourself in groups of people to whom you say "digital compression". Everyone understands what you mean and you are not surprised or disappointed that you don't have to explain it.
You say "voice number" instead of "phone number" as the majority of phone lines in any house are linked to contraptions that talk to other contraptions.
You back up your data every day.
On holiday, you read a computer manual and turn the pages faster than those who read John Grisham novels.
You go to trade shows and map out your path of the exhibit hall in advance. But you can't give someone directions to your house without looking up street names.
You would rather get more dots per inch than miles per gallon.
You are so knowledgeable about technology that you feel secure enough to say "I don't know" when someone asks you a technology question instead of feeling compelled to make something up.
You understand all these jokes.
If so, technology has taken over your life. We suggest you go lie under a tree and write a haiku. And don't use a laptop.
Self Motivation Techniques To Keep Your Goals In Focus
No matter what goal you are aiming for, staying motivated is a challenge for everyone at times. Even though you have set those goals for yourself, it will be hard to stay focused at times. Using self motivation techniques is a great way to ensure that you stay positive and have the mental attitude needed to achieve your goals. One of the best things that you can do is to map out a plan detailing your goal and the steps that you will take to achieve your dreams. It is also a good idea to regularly reassess your plan and make sure that you still feel that your original strategy is the best one. There is nothing wrong with changing your plan if you feel that changes will improve it, the plan is not carved in stone and should always be considered as a flexible tool. Life is full of unexpected surprises and this can mean your initial steps will no longer lead you to where you want to arrive, you can change your written plan to take any surprise changes into account.
Making your written plan is the first step. After that, you might find that you still need sources of inspiration and encouragement. Self motivation techniques such as breaking your plan into small tasks that you can achieve daily will help give you a sense of accomplishment as each task is finished. This is a great technique and will help you avoid feeling overwhelmed or feeling that your goal is too hard for you to accomplish. Remember, the way to eat a whole elephant is one bite at a time. Make a written list of tasks for each day and cross them off one by one as you complete them. Each time you cross off a completed item, your spirits will get a boost that will encourage you to tack the next task on your list.
Rewarding yourself after you complete your tasks will also help keep you feeling mentally positive and optimistic. The reward can be anything, eg a coffee break or ten minutes to chat to a friend on the phone. The reward doesn’t need to be anything big but, by giving yourself an incentive, you will have something to help motivate you to take the next step towards reaching your goal.
Procrastination is called "the thief of time" for very good reasons. Procrastination is an easy habit to adopt and a very hard one to break, so it is best to have a scheme in place to avoid it all together. Avoiding procrastination is one of the simplest and biggest ways that you can increase your motivation and remain focused on taking the necessary small steps towards achieving your goals.
Making written lists (and following them!) is an excellent way to avoid procrastination. Try taking your yearly goals and breaking them down into manageable monthly chunks. Next break the monthly lists down further into weekly parts. Finally make daily lists that involve small steps towards your yearly goals. By working on your yearly goals in this step by step fashion, you will reduce the opportunities for being tempted to procrastinate. Once you get into the habit of following your daily task list, the temptation to put things off will be overridden by the desire to see all the items crossed through by the end of your working day.
When you finish your daily tasks, be sure to reward yourself. If you finish earlier than normal, award yourself some extra time off to spend as you please. If you are keeping to your step by step plan, there is no need to put in extra hours. The days of procrastinating and then needing to work longer hours will be over. List making sounds simple (and it is) but it is a powerful way to keep yourself on track day by day to accomplish your ultimate goals.
