Greetings From London

Hello and welcome to Networkers' Calendar. I'm sorry this issue is so long overdue but the summer months tend to be a quiet time on the Internet. When I wrote the last edition, the spring weather had just started making London a more pleasant place to be. Since then we have had a long heat wave and it is now chilly and rainy. This does make it seem as if I missed out a whole season but there's sure to be some more summer weather to come and, with any luck, there will be enough good things happening to fill at least one more edition of this newsletter before real autumn hits us.

Since the Easter edition was published I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that the paid to autosurf industry is dead. It was just impossible to find any new autosurf for cash programs worth recommending. New ones keep opening up but they keep disappearing without trace. There are better ways to earn money on the Internet. You might need to work a little harder but at least your don't have to risk your cash. If anyone tries to tell you autosurfing for cash is still a good way to make money online, don't believe them, it's a lie.

The same week I decided to call it a day, I found that two sites which dealt exclusively with the surfing industry were closing down so I guessed I had made the right decision and the announcement that Dad 'n Daves will close in September 2007convinced me it's all over. I did enjoy getting paid to surf right from the time the payment was 1% per day and it took about an hour a day to surf. Unfortunately it all got out of hand and people were only interested in the sites that offered a high percentage and they forgot that the whole point of traffic exchanges is that they are a place to advertise. The demise of the autosurf for cash sites must have been a relief to the owners of ordinary traffic exchanges.

For a few months now we've been seeing more and more Data Entry programs being offered. These programs are becoming increasingly popular. The top one at the moment is Type Home. Another one to watch is Home Data Typers. This was the first one to offer video tutorials it might well leap to the top of the popularity charts within the next couple of months. If you like the idea of making some quick cash online but don't know where to start, one of these programs could be your answer.

This month I'd like to introduce you to Better Universe. This program has been around for some three years which is long enough for any glitches to be ironed out and the point of stability reached. There is a great deal of interest in this program as it gives members the chance to earn money, save money and help make the world a better place. I've been with Better Universe. for a few months now and am quite happy to recommend it, you can join as a free member to check it out and upgrade only when you are ready. They also offer a separate membership for a low one time fee ($29.95) to their Receipts Rebates Program. This is another easy way of making some money. All they want is copies of your ordinary everyday receipts. Just the receipts, no personal information, account numbers or anything like that. All they want to find out is how people are spending money. This is like paid surveys with a novel twist. The first month I tried it, I got in a bit of a mess with copies of receipts but month two was easy and it took less than half the time to finish because I had everything organised.

The only snag is that the cash does not come through from their clients for 4-5 months (they are trying to reduce this) but, once it starts, it keeps coming each month. I don't mind the wait but I think this is one thing that will put people off. People want to see results instantly, so I really hope the delay will be reduced soon. I think this is a genuine program: I checked around for scam allegations but, for a company that's been going for 3 years there was not much to see apart from the usual handful of derogatory posts on forums and none that I found said anything about members not getting paid. The posters were more interested in making personal attacks and criticising marketing methods.

As soon as I get paid, I will announce it here and if this goes pear shaped, I'll make sure I let everyone know. There will be a major uproar on the Tops-Three Phase Profits work at home forum if we are let down over this. If you like the sound of Receipts Rebates but want to wait for reassurance, check back here every month because I'll be posting regular updates until I get paid and as soon as that happens, I'll recommend the program without any reservation. This is nothing to do with commission payments on the rest of the program, they are paid monthly without fail, just the Receipts Rebates part.

August has been a good month for my Internet business and that was a relief after a couple of slow months, but it is good to have a bit of a breather and do some housekeeping - I even tidied up my browser bookmarks. As usual, my top income program was SFI. The close second was Survey Scout which was no surprise. Nothing else really stood out but it is still fairly quiet online.

The only other new thing on the scene is a free search engine that will pay you in PPC dollars to search. If you have a website to promote and would like some free trafic have a look at Big Daddy.

In previous issues I have mentioned Submit YOUR Article and thought I'd give it another mention today in case you missed it before. I have been using this service myself for several months and have been 100% satisfied with it .

Enough from me. I hope you will enjoy the rest of this month's Networkers Calendar, there are two feature articles this month, one by the well-known Charlie Page and one of my own. Keep safe and be happy. I'll be back in a month or so (promise not to be so long with the next issue) with some more Internet good stuff.

Six Bad Days

1. The average cost of rehabilitating a seal after the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska was $80, 000. At a special ceremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from onlookers. A minute later, in full view, they were both eaten by a killer whale.

2. A psychology student in New York rented out her spare room to a carpenter in order to nag him constantly and study his reactions. After weeks of needling, he snapped and beat her repeatedly with an axe leaving her mentally retarded.

3. In 1992, Frank Perkins of Los Angeles made an attempt on the world flagpole-sitting record. Suffering from the flu he came down eight hours short of the 400-day record, his sponsor had gone bust, his girlfriend had left him and his phone and electricity had been cut off.

4. A woman came home to find her husband in the kitchen, shaking frantically with what looked like a wire running from his waist towards the electric kettle. Intending to jolt him away from the deadly current, she whacked him with a handy plank of wood by the back door, breaking his arm in two places.
Until that moment, he had been happily listening to his Walkman.

5. Two animal rights protesters were protesting the cruelty of sending pigs to a slaughterhouse in Bonn, Germany. Suddenly the pigs, all two thousand of them, escaped through a broken fence and stampeded, trampling the two hapless protesters to death.

And finally...

6. Iraqi terrorist, Khay Rahnajet, didn't pay enough postage on a letter bomb. It came back with "return to sender" stamped on it. Forgetting it was the bomb, he opened it and was blown to bits.

There now! Your day's not so bad, is it?

Four Steps To Writing a Great Classified Ad
(c) Charlie Page
http://www.realworldtactics.com/cmd.php?af=413237

Classified ads are everywhere!

You see them when you read your favorite ezine.

You see them on all the search engines in the form of
pay per click ads like Google AdWords.

And you see them on blogs and forums too!

The reason you see so many classified ads in ezines, on
web sites and other places is simple.

They work!

Classified advertising is one of the most cost
effective forms of advertising on the Net today. Like
most things that seem very simple on the surface, a
great deal of work goes in to writing a powerful
classified ad.

If you want to add power to your classified ads,
carefully consider the following four step process.

Writing a great ad is hard. This is not "sit down for 5
minutes and punch it out" work. When a professional
writer creates a classified ad for a client, it's not
unusual for the writer to produce 15 or even 20
variations in order to get the best possible ad.

So grab the beverage of your choice, loosen up those
typing fingers and let's create a money making
classified.

The three parts of a great classified ad are ...

* The Headline
* The Body
* The Call to Action

IMPORTANT: Each one has only ONE purpose.

* The purpose of the headline is to sell the ad.
* The purpose of the ad is to set up the call to
action.
* The purpose of the call to action is to sell the click.

If you keep this in mind as you write, you will see how
easy it becomes to cause readers to take the action you
want.

=======> The Headline

Your headline must grab attention! The headline's job
is to sell the ad.

Some people use sensational headlines with no
relationship to their offer to grab attention. That
approach may work in the short term, but damages your
integrity in the long run. Honesty is always the best
policy. The last thing you want is disappointment when
someone arrives at your website.

Keep these ideas in mind when you write your headline.

* Begin each sentence with an action word.
* Create curiosity.
* Ask a question.

HOT TIP: If the publication you are placing your ad in
doesn't allow headlines, use the first few words as the
headline or indent the ad so it stands out.

When writing headlines, always remember that people
care about exactly one thing; what's in it for me?

=======> The Body

The body of the ad must tell your reader what's in it
for them. What *benefit* will they get by making that
click?

People don't want to 'learn more' out of idle
curiosity. They want to learn more in order to get to
the *benefits* you promised them, so don't be shy about
what your offer will do for them.

The first step to writing the body is to list all the
features of your product or service then, next to them,
list the benefits of those features. You must write at
least one benefit for each feature, or don't use that
feature. People buy what your product or service will
do for *them*, not only what it will do.

=======> The Call to Action

The call to action is the action you want the reader to
take. While it is often as simple as "click here" it's
wise to pay careful attention to this step.

What to say here depends on if you are sending them to
a web site, an autoresponder or some other way to get
more information. If it's a website, be sure to include
urgency. You must lure them away from what they are
doing now in order to visit your site.

If you are using an autoresponder, tell the reader what
to expect. Will they get one email, a five part series,
or something else? The more they know, the more likely
they will be to click through.

=======> What's Next?

One last step and you're ready to begin making money.
Don't forget to read your ad! Classifieds aren't
supposed to read like a novel. Check that spelling too!

Once you have your dollar grabbing, profit pulling
classified written, don't forget the #1 rule in
advertising.

TEST YOUR AD

Test, test and test again to know what works. Testing
allows you to spend small money now to make big money
later.

By following these steps you will begin to create
classifieds that work. Once you have an ad that works,
use it everywhere you can afford to and you will rake
in the profits!

A Rewarding Home Business - Teaching Baby Sign-Language
By Elaine Currie

Have you ever considered a career teaching mothers how to use baby sign-language? If you haven’t heard about baby signing, it is a system of simple sign-language for use with hearing babies. It is not intended to replace speech: it is to help with the problem of communicating with babies while they are too young to be able to speak. Baby sign-language has been quite well known in the United States for some time and now that it has spread to the UK it is catching on in a big way.

I had seen articles and advertising on the Internet about baby sign-language but didn't think too much about it. To be honest, basically I dismissed the idea as some nonsensical passing fad for trendy young mothers. After all, mothers and babies have managed without sign-language up to now, haven’t they? This logic is not, of course, infallible: we managed without electricity and penicillin etc. but I wouldn't want to go back to those days, so I am open to change. A couple of things have caused me to revise my opinion of baby sign-language and I now appreciate how useful it can be and how much grief it can save both mothers and babies. I am definitely a convert!

My little granddaughter, at 17 months, was short on intelligible vocabulary but great on communicating. She communicated via a system of gestures and noises. One of my favourites, because it looked so funny when performed by such a small person was an enigmatic shrug accompanied by an upturned palms gesture which meant "no idea". Unfortunately the day arrived when our amateur sign-language let us down. The baby wanted something but no amount of pointing and squeaking on her part could convey to me exactly what was required. The only way I could hope to find out what she wanted was by offering things to her; I didn't know if she had a pain, wanted a drink or needed her best cuddly bunny. The harder I guessed and offered items, the more distressed she became. The end result was a miserable frustrated crying toddler and an unhappy guilt-ridden grandma. I was so upset, I felt like joining in with the tears.

Just after that my daughter told me about a little boy who attends the local toddler group. He had developed a habit of cruelly squeezing the family cat. When you are dealing with an under two year old who can't speak, it is hard to know whether the child is being deliberately spiteful or if he is simply being playful and doesn't understand that he is causing pain. So how should the parents deal with the problem? Most people would probably assume the child is innocent and wait until he is "old enough to understand" before trying to curb the behaviour. The fact that this little boy had been taught baby sign-language meant that he was able to tell his mother he knew he was hurting the cat. This enabled the mother to deal with the situation without delay by teaching the child that it is a bad thing to cause pain to other living creatures and to tell him there would be zero tolerance of such behaviour. This outcome impressed the other mothers (my daughter included) most of whom had never even heard of baby sign-language. The poor old cat was probably impressed as well.

Until then I had never given serious thought to baby sign-language but I realised that we already teach babies to communicate through an informal system of sign-language, so there's no reason why a proper system should seem like a strange idea. One thing that causes great distress to mothers is the inability to know for sure if a baby is in pain but a signing baby has the ability to convey this. That was the point that really convinced us that baby sign-language is a useful thing. It looks as if my next grandchild will have the benefit of learning baby signing, that makes me very happy and I'll be taking the lessons too.

Teaching mothers how to sign is a very worthwhile job as well as being fun and I believe there will be an increasing demand for teachers as word spreads about the benefits of being able to communicate in a meaningful way with even tiny tots. From being a complete sceptic, I am now a firm believer in the importance of baby sign-language and have found a source of baby sign-language teaching to add to my "mom specials" at my website. If you would like a job where you get to meet other moms, consider starting your own business as a baby sign-language instructor - family pets will bless you for it!
